DIY Pin the Tail on the Bunny Easter Game

Whether you are planning the spring class party or just looking for something to keep your kiddos occupied while you recover from that epic Easter egg hunt, this DIY Pin the Tail on the Bunny Easter game is a perfect indoor Easter activity for kids. In this Easter version of the classic 1899 pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey game, kids get to put on a blindfold, get spun around a few times, then try their very best to pin the tail on the bunny.

Here’s how to make your own super adorable Pin the Tail on the Bunny game.

Gather Your Supplies

First things first, you will need to gather the supplies needed to make the game. Here’s the good news: you more than likely already have most (if not all) of the supplies needed to make this indoor Easter game!

Here’s a list of what you need to make it:

• Printer with standard 8.5×11″ printer paper
• Paper trimmer (optional)
• Scissors
• Tape
• Blindfold or bandana

Step 1: Download the Free Pin the Tail on the Bunny Printable

Next, you’ll need to download the printable pages to make your own DIY Pin the Tail on the Bunny game. You can get the PDF right here.

Since most of us common folks don’t own a large format printer, I designed this printable to be printed on standard 8.5″x11″ printer paper. You can print this template at 100% scale or print it to fit the page. Either way works – I tried both! 😁

(Note: A few room mommas have asked which printer I use for my printables, templates and class projects. I have a Canon G4210 with fillable ink tanks. We print A LOT in my house (coloring sheets, printables I’m designing/testing, school projects, etc.). I’ve had it for over a year and still haven’t needed to refill the tanks!)

Step 2: Trim the Edges

Once you have your pages printed, it’s time to trim off the white edges on the bunny pages. To do this, I use my trusty Westcott Paper Trimmer. As you can see by the photo, this bad boy gets used a lot. I am slightly obsessed with my paper trimmer, and that’s okay because the replacement blades are cheap!

Step 3: Tape Your Bunny Together

Next, carefully overlap the edges of the paper to line up the top and bottom portions of the bunny. Here, I used a lightbox, but using one isn’t necessary. If you’re having trouble seeing the image without a lightbox, put a few sheets of plain white paper underneath your pages to increase the contrast.

As you’re lining up the pages, use tape to secure them together. I used clear tape on the front and the back for added security.

Once your top and bottom pages are taped, join the pages together with more tape to reveal your tail-less bunny!

Step 4: Cut Out Your Bunny Tails

Once your bunny is put assembled, cut out the bunny tails.

I ended up printing the tails on heavy cardstock because I knew the kids would want to play this game over and over. It’s definitely a good idea to print them on white cardstock or heavy matte photo paper if you’re planning on using this at your Easter or Spring class party.

P.S. If the tails look a little different on your printable, it’s because those fluffy tails in the picture took foreverrrrr to cut out. I simplified the design a little for your sanity and to save you from the scissor induced hand cramps. You’re welcome. 😘

Step 5: Hang Up Your Bunny Poster & Enjoy!

Now it’s time to hang up your bunny! Find some empty wall space and hang your poster at a suitable height according to the age/height of your kids. You can use double-sided tape or regular tape to hang your bunny. Next, add a little loop of tape to each bunny tail, and you’re ready to play!

My daughter is ridiculously good at this game.

They played with pin the tail on the bunny for a solid hour! They had a blast taking turns spinning each other around and giggling as they tried to get the bunny tail on just right.
