Room Mom Thank You Note Templates
Simply saying “Thank You,” goes such a long way. Probably more than you think! When it comes to sending a thank you note, you have 2 options:
- Send a digital card (a cute one, not those cheesy cards from the early 00’s 😂)
- Send a physical card
At the time of this post, April 2020, we are still practicing distance learning and virtual schooling… So without a doubt, a digital thank you note is the way to go right now.
With this in mind, I created a collection of editable Room Thank You Cards in Canva just for this occasion. These templates will allow you to create cute/fun cards in a snap. This collection includes several designs, so you can choose the one you think your room mom will love the most. 🙂

Not sure what to write on the card? No problem!
Each digital card includes a thank you note template that allows you to simply fill in the blanks with your room mom’s name and space to include at least one project or event she helped you with. Feel free to add any other details or memories from the school year to the card. 📝
To edit the text on the card, double click on the text box.
Once you’re happy with your note, click on the download button at the top right of the window.
With the download drop-down menu open, be sure to select the correct Page your card is on. If you do not select your page, all 15 of the templates will be downloaded!
Once you have your thank you note downloaded, it can be sent via email or printed out and given to your room mom in person (or via snail mail). When printed, the cards are standard 5x7in size.
Option #2: Send a Physical Thank You Note
If you prefer to handwrite your thank you notes, you can purchase an individual card from a local store, but I personally like to keep a box of cute thank-you cards (like these) on hand because it’s so much cheaper!
Etsy has a really good selection of cute handmade thank-you cards, too! I’m kinda obsessed with that cheese grater…😂
Once you’ve got the perfect card, it’s time to figure out what to write inside. When writing letters to parents, emails to teachers, and letters asking parents for money (eeeek!), I always start with a template and then add in my personality and details after.
Here’s a template to help you find the perfect thank you words to your room mom:
Dear [[ROOM MOM’S NAME]],
As a mom, I know you are busy, so I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the time you took out of your day to help out in the classroom this year. With your help, the students really enjoyed [[ADD A PROJECT OR EVENT SHE HELPED WITH HERE]]. It was so much fun!
I don’t know what we would have done without you this year. Thanks again for all your help!
– [[YOUR NAME HERE]]
Be sure to add in any specific projects she helped you with this year. You can also add details or little memories of your time together that stuck out in your mind. Let her know you were paying attention. 🙂
Once your room mom’s thank you note is ready, you can deliver it to her in person at the end-of-year ceremony or you can pop it into the mail. If you don’t have her home address, your school’s office definitely has it on file.
Room Mom Gifts
If you want to take your appreciation efforts a step further and give your room mom a gift, there are just a couple things to note before you do…
As a seasoned room mom, I can say it’s a pleasure and an honor to be your room mom. And honestly, I believe our role is so minuscule compared to what you do for our children each and every day throughout the school year. 💕
I also want to mention, room moms typically aren’t expecting to receive gifts from teachers. Room moms are mainly focused on supporting the teacher (and spoiling her/him) throughout the year. So receiving a gift for that is usually the last thing on her mind.
Regardless, if you love giving gifts but aren’t sure about what to give her, here’s a few ideas to help you get inspired.
A Gift that Reminds Her of How Awesome She Is
Remind her how fabulous she is with a funny volunteer mug…
Or grab an insulated tumbler to literally thank her for being so awesome!
Self Care Gifts
I’ve spoken with countless room moms since starting this blog, and I have to say: the ladies I’ve met are some of the kindest, most selfless, and loving people on earth. They are always thinking of others before themselves.
Giving your room mom a gift that highlights self-care and relaxation is a guaranteed winner. She doesn’t often worry too much about herself — although she really deserves it!
Etsy has an amazing selection of self-care themed gift boxes. Many include handcrafted soaps and bath bombs!
Another gift that is trending right now is gift boxes that include real succulents (AKA the only plant species I can keep alive for longer than one month 🙃). Add one of these free ‘thank you for helping me grow‘ gift tags. SO CUTE!!
Last-Minute Gift Ideas
If there’s no time for ordering a physical gift, nothing — and I mean NOTHING — beats a good ol’ gift card. I recently found out Amazon has a crazy large selection of gift cards from a wide variety of stores. I seriously thought you could only get Amazon gift cards from Amazon…NOPE!
Here are a few of my favorite finds:
- Michaels & Jo-Ann Craft Stores
- If your room mom is crafty these are PERFECT!
- Netflix
- Why not cover her Netflix bill for a month or two?
- Starbucks
- Let’s face it, mama needs coffee!
- Sephora & Ulta
- (check out all beauty & spa options here)
- Lowe’s
- For the mom who loves to garden and DIY
- Petsmart & Petco
- Perfect for the pet-loving mama
- A *ton* of clothing & shoe stores — who knew?!
Choosing the right gift for your room mom will depend on her personality and what you have learned about her over this last year. If you’re not sure what to get or if the above list is overwhelming you, take it from this Amazon junkie, you simply cannot go wrong with an Amazon gift card. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t enjoy receiving one!!
Conclusion
I hope this post helped you write the perfect room mom thank you note and perhaps gave you some fresh gift ideas. Thank you for noticing and appreciating your awesome room mom! Room moms and teachers make such an amazing team. 🙌
